About Little Mrs. Me
Welcome to The CookMobile!
My name is Lalaine. I love to cook, and bake, …and eat, of course. Gratefully, I am one of the few who do for work what they love to do for play. I’ve been gainfully employed for the past 15 years as a dietary manager for skilled nursing facilities. It has been a continuous professional challenge for me to provide appealing meals to our patients within the confines of their dietary restrictions and guidelines. It takes quite a bit of creativity to make puree peas appetizing! And ever had diet cake? Ugghh!
Primarily as a hobby, I, over the years, have amassed thousands of recipes from various sources-grandma, favorite aunt, next-door neighbor, printed materials, mailings, etc. As I haven’t moved in time with technology, I have used the ancient clip-and-paste method of organizing these recipes onto bulky binders. And although hundreds are already neatly categorized, thousands more are still nestled in storage boxes waiting to be discovered. This gargantuan collection encompasses from the traditional Meatloaf to exotic Beef Satay, from freshly-baked dinner rolls to gooey, chewy cookies, from light salads to meal-in-itself soups… Some of the recipes I have tweaked to add, as Emeril would say, an extra BAM! The collection also includes my own kitchen creations which reflect my Filipino heritage and personal tastes.
Most of my posts include a candid short story of how the recipe is connected to me. It is my way of welcoming you not only to my kitchen but to my home as well. I have somehow envisioned The CookMobile to be, not only a portal for cooking knowledge, but also a window into my world. Kind of like a www. com family sitting down on the dinner table, sharing both food and life.
Although I might think I know my way around pots and pans, HTML and CSS I wouldn’t recognize if they stared me right on the face and called my name! Please allow me the opportunity to extend my appreciation to the assistance of Josh Bowers of http://jbowersonline.com/ who has made my visions come alive.
My goal is to make around 5 to 10 posts a week. At this rate and 50 pounds weight gain for me, I am hoping in 5 to 6 months The CookMobile will be content-dense for your full enjoyment. Please join me in my world wide web journey. Here’s to finding you sweating in the kitchen!
Your equally sweaty dotcom friend,
Lalaine
