My Meme~Blego
Gay, from A Scientist in the Kitchen, tagged me for this meme the first week of February. Although I had my response saved as a draft since the day after the tag, I’ve been putting off posting it. You see, if there is something I should share about me (one that is worth a discussion across a psychiatrist’s desk, I think), it is that I am a sucker for kindness. Show me one little good thing and you have me hooked for life. Take the case of Gay. During our early days of blogging, she was nice enough to guide and to share with me the little nuggets of wisdom she gained from her own experiences. From that, I feel I’ve found a friend in cyberspace. Then there is Jaden from Jaden’s Steamy Kitchen. I posted a comment on her blog regarding “lighting and photography”. She has around 70 plus comments for that post yet she took the time to check my blog and to e-mail me directly to offer pointers. Wow! 70 comments and she spent precious time to E-MAIL (geez! I am lucky if I have one comment for two weeks and I still fail to reply)! I may not be in a position to be of service to these samaritans but I can always wish and pray for their continued success, yeah?
Ok, my deep sense of gratitude and appreciation is fine and dandy. My contradicting trait however is, when I get rejected, I tend to wall myself up. I wallow in self-pity and bwaahahahuhu myself to sleep for days! In January, I got so excited about my own food blog event. However, the results were a little bit short of what I hoped for. I am 37 years old but always to my husband’s dismay, I sometimes think and respond like I am seven. My January event made me feel like a child who didn’t get picked for a game of touchball. I suppose this is why I am a wary about tagging~how about if they didn’t want to join? Silly Lalaine.
Now, on to the Meme. I hope I do it right.
The rules:
* The person tagged must copy the word and paste the definitions of the word contributed previously by the people who did the meme. Link backs would be nice, but not necessary.
* The person tagged must then add her own definition in this format ‘yourname.com’s definition’ and place your link. Being creative with the acronym is encouraged.
* Answer the following questions.
* Tag 5 other people to do the meme.

Questions
If you answer no to any of the questions, just skip the “if yes” part. Also, it’s easier to follow if your answers are beneath each question.
1. Do you know what your blog is really about, and you can write a one-sentence promotional material for it in a flash? If yes, write it here.
home-tested recipes, cooking tips and kitchen adventures
2. Do you join social networks to promote your blog? If yes, do you hope to find friends in these social networks and in the process get regular readers of your blog?
I joined and occasionally submit to blogher, digg, stumbleupon and reddit to shamefully self-promote but I mostly end up reading other people’s submission for hours and hours instead! Definitely interesting what others find interesting!
3. Do you or do you plan to join ranking sites that put your blog in competition with others for popularity? If yes, do you or do you plan to monitor your stats regularly?
I check Google analytics and Feedburner daily. Hay! Every new subscription tickles me pink. It is my affirmation that I am on the right track!
4. Do you tweak your blog often in accordance with the tips you get from blogging guides and gurus? If yes, list the bloggers you visit often to obtain these tips.
All the time! I just called Josh a few days ago because I was tweaking a page and I didn’t know how to “go back”. I just wish I know more about the backend. A lot of the tips I read I don’t even understand. “Place a META something, something..” they advise. May I ask, “Where can I find that darn META something, something..?”. It would be cool if I am more familiar with CSS and stuff. I would have been changing my color theme daily!
5. Do you think of your next post even if you have just written a new one? If yes, list your inspirations for posting, and/or some routines that you go through before posting.
Definitely! I have a notebook for the dishes I want to cook and I have a shopping list to go with the notebook. Too often though, I end up throwing away vegetables, cheeses and stuff because I didn’t get around to preparing my dishes as planned. Spinach can’t wait forever for me, yah know?
